PM Inaugurates 37 Projects in Preah Sihanouk, Delivers Strong Messages

Sihanoukville: Prime Minister Hun Sen has led the inauguration ceremony of 37 infrastructure accomplishments in Preah Sihanouk province.The fast development in Preah Sihanouk, specifically in Sihanoukville is part of the effort to transform the province into a multi-purpose one. During his speech, the Prime Minister has delivered strong messages in line with the Royal Government efforts to better the future not only of the Cambodians but all the people living in the kingdom.

A total of 34 road infrastructure projects and three wastewater plant station have been inaugurated in Preah Sihanouk province on Thursday. The ceremony was led by Prime Minister Hun Sen delivering strong messages for its people and the whole country.

The Prime Minister says that the province of Preah Sihanouk will be core in the economic recovery of the kingdom, as the Royal Government is transforming it into a multipurpose one. The Wastewater Treatment System will be used by the people to consume clean water, especially for the environment. The Prime Minister says that as the province bears beautiful beaches, people will no longer worry swimming into a dirty sea. The provincial roads are also being developed to attract more investors to the country.

In his speech, Prime Minister Hun Sen has emphasized that these are the results of the government efforts to benefit the people and the next generation. The projects that were inaugurated on Thursday worth $300 million. The implementation has been participated by both public and private institutions.

The Prime Minister says that Cambodia is developing fast which is the fruit of his win-win strategy. He has also reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to continue protecting peace, monarchy and the throne which are very important for Cambodia’s progress and development.

Prime Minister Hun Sen says that after the fully reopening of Cambodia, the national budget revenue has increased. He has acknowledged the success of the Covid-19 fight and the country’s rapid vaccination campaign as the main roots for Cambodia’s early reopening of the economy compared to other countries. He has also mentioned that despite the situation in the Covid-19 pandemic, the Royal Government of Cambodia continues to build a strong relation with other countries – not only ASEAN countries but the other regions as well.

Prime Minister Hun Sen says that he is even ready to travel to Myanmar in the near future. He says that the exclusion of Myanmar from the ASEAN would be detrimental to the economic union, which has 10 member countries from South East Asia. With the recent activities of the ASEAN, Myanmar has always been missing. The Prime Minister emphasizes the importance of Myanmar in the ASEAN group. He has also revealed that the Foreign Minister of Myanmar will visit Cambodia next week, 6 to 7 December. Cambodia’s ASEAN chairmanship will commence in 2022 holding regional and global issues.

With the issue on Cambodia’s Ream Naval Base, Prime Minister Hun Sen has given a striking message that the kingdom must no longer allow visitors. He has recalled the issue with United States. He says, before, kingdom has been openly receiving foreign visits, yet they were still unsatisfied with the privilege provided.

Back in June, Prime Minister Hun Sen has allowed American Defense attaché, Colonel Marcus Ferrara, to visit and inspect the Naval Base. However, U.S Embassy has posted in its Facebook page that Colonel Ferrara has decided to end its visit when he was not allowed to visit all the area of Ream Naval Base, requesting another “full inspection” while claiming Cambodia’s base is being controlled by China.
